Collections
At Steel Products Direct, safety is our top priority — for you, for our team, and for everyone on the road. Steel is a heavy and potentially dangerous material if not transported properly. To ensure a smooth and safe collection process, please review the following requirements before arriving to collect your order.
All collections must be made using a commercial vehicle that is:
Rated for the weight and dimensions of your order
Equipped with appropriate load space
Fitted with approved lashing or strapping points
In a safe, roadworthy condition
We do not permit collections for items over 25kg in:
Cars, Vans, estate vehicles, or SUVs
Makeshift trailers or modified vehicles
Pickups without high sides or proper strapping systems
Vehicles with visible defects
It is your responsibility to ensure your vehicle:
Meets all UK road weight limits and load securing regulations
Is suitable for safe loading and unloading
Complies with UK commercial goods transport laws
You will receive a call or confirmation email to discuss:
Load weight and approximate dimensions
Suitable vehicle types for collection
Site-specific safety protocols and PPE requirements
Mandatory PPE for collection includes:
Fully covered arms and legs (no shorts, vests or t-shirts)
Hi-vis clothing
Hard hat
Closed-toe footwear (no sandals, flip-flops, or sliders)
Steel toe caps or sturdy safety boots/trainers
Please contact us in advance if you are unsure about your vehicle. We’re here to help.
For everyone's safety, we operate a strict refusal policy. If your vehicle does not meet our safety standards, you will not be allowed to collect your order.
This helps prevent:
Risk of serious injury or fatality
Damage to goods or vehicles
Legal penalties for unsafe transportation
Disruption to your business and our operations
If you’re thinking:
“I’ll just throw it in the back.”
“It’s only a short drive.”
“I’ve done this before — it’ll be fine.”
Stop. These are signs that your vehicle may not meet safety requirements.
If you're unsure whether your vehicle is suitable, please contact our sales team before your visit. We're happy to assist you in preparing for a safe collection.
If it’s not safe, it doesn’t go. Thank you for helping us keep our people — and the roads — safe.
